Horses can be sensitive to tetanus, a progressive disease caused by bacteria in infected wounds. It causes stiffness, muscle spasms, and convulsions, and can be fatal. The tetanus vaccine can be administered at the time of injury, but you'll reduce risk greatly by making it part of your horse's annual vaccine regimen.
